Robert Summers Potterton, III (b. 1986) is an American keyboardist, composer, and educator with experience across various media and numerous genres. His music has been heard in the church, concert hall, local television, and independent film, with clients coming from across the United States and around the world. Since 2015, he has been Organist & Choirmaster at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He is also an Associate at G. Paul Music in Worcester, Massachusetts and serves on the Executive Committee of the Worcester Chapter, American Guild of Organists.
A Connecticut native, Robert received his earliest formal instruction in piano at age 11 and went on to study organ with Dr. Richard Mueller of Willington, CT, from 2000-2002. He later completed degrees at Houghton College (Bachelor of Music, Composition & Organ Performance) as a student of Mark Hijleh, Sun Mi Ro, and Judy Congdon, and Boston University (Master of Sacred Music, Organ Performance; Master of Sacred Theology, Worship) studying with Peter Sykes. He has completed additional coursework through the University of Notre Dame’s STEP program, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and Harvard Divinity School.
Robert resides in Spencer, MA, with his wife Carissa Lyn and children Adam and Kimberly.
